The OHG was nominated as one of the few new cultural schools in Baden-Württemberg in the school year 2021. Culture has played a special role at the OHG for decades, whether in the form of elaborate musicals, during "Long Nights of Culture," collaborative art-theater showcases, or a variety of other cultural events.
To promote culturally aesthetic educational approaches in subject teaching, a meeting of various "cultural schools" took place at our school. This state program, funded by the Ministry of Education of Baden-Württemberg, the Karl Schlecht Foundation, and the Mercator Foundation, aims at cultural school development and active networking among the participating schools to consolidate and share experiences from previous model projects, as well as to collaboratively develop culturally-aesthetic, action-oriented teaching methods.
The OHG is one of 25 cultural schools in Baden-Württemberg that meet regularly in established subgroups to exchange ideas. The second meeting was hosted at the OHG. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, this could only take place as an online event at short notice; nevertheless, we provided insight into the multitude of our practical cultural offerings. It is a tradition at our school for numerous events and projects to take place regularly, which have emerged from cooperation among various cultural sectors. Notably, the broad and interdisciplinary offerings stand out as a particular quality.
Our commitment is paying off – with positive feedback and inspiring conversations, we can further stimulate our school development process and strengthen culturally-aesthetic creation even within regular lessons.
